Andhra Pradesh Governer N.D. Tiwari continuance as Andhra Pradesh Governor appears to have become untenable with indications that the 86-year-old leader may be asked to go in the wake of a sting operation that purportedly showed him in a compromising position with three women. The Centre has asked for a report from the state government and knowledgeable sources here said that he may be asked to quit the post following severe embarrassment to the Congress party. After the sting operation was telecast yesterday by the ABN Andhra Jyothi channel, the Raj Bhavan approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court and got a restraint order on the channel from telecasting the footage.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has restrained a television news channel from telecasting a news story showing visuals of an elderly person, who was alleged to be Governor Narayan Dutt Tiwari, in a compromising position with three women in the Raj Bhavan.Before police could serve the High Court’s order, ABN channel aired the programme in which explicit scenes were telecast. It stopped repeat telecast of the visuals but continued interviews and panel discussions about the Governor’s conduct. A legal notice was served on the channel by the Governor’s counsel stating that this constituted flagrant violation of the earlier order.
