    To those who are shopping around for an AV Receiver and a Blu-ray player. This is a good read.

    Ultimately, PS3 can decode DTS / Dolby HD and send the lossless audio via HDMI to a receiver as LPCM. The debate is whether the receiver requires DTS / Dolby HD decoders . This article states it does not need to decode them (as they are already decoded at PS3 software level). However, Sony claims the receiver needs these codes even if it is streamed at LPCM.
